Eid al-Fitr 2021 Outfit: Brocade-Style Bubble-Sleeve Top & Matching Skirt Set

For some reason, these outfit photos of Eid last year were just sitting around in a folder on my laptop, unshared. But today seems like a good day to share them, and I will also now use the phrase that I've been utilizing a lot lately here: better late than never.

To be fair, I did write an Eid 2021 post (which you can read here: Eid Mubarak & Selamat Hari Raya From My Family To Yours!) detailing my day of celebrating at home without Shah's and my families, due to the lockdown. Dare I say that post is a lot more interesting than this plain outfit post, but it seems a waste not to share the outfit photos Shah must have worked hard at snapping for me that day!

I absolutely adore this matching set but I haven't worn it since this Eid for two reasons:

  1. The brocade-style top and skirt are a tad too big for me (size M was too fitting, the hijabi me would take oversize over tight any day) and need alteration — something my procrastinating-self just haven't gotten around to doing! I had pinned the skirt at the back in these photos, can you tell?
  2. The set feels so fancy on, and hardly something I'd wear to the mall or eat pisang goreng at a stall outdoors, you know what I mean?

I'm waiting for an invitation to a glamorous event of some sort so that I could see photos of me in this matching brocade-style set somewhere other than my living room, but maybe I should create that opportunity myself somehow...?

(But just in case, if an invitation is coming my way I hope it'd arrive early enough for me to rush the top and skirt to an alteration shop!)

Hopefully no one notices that I haven't shared my 2022 Eid al-Fitr outfit (oop) but let's hope I'll get around to doing that soon.

  2. Girl, you look super sassy in your brocade outfit. I never would be comfy wearing this but you made it look so effortless. Like I'd be so into seeing photos of you eating pisang goreng by the road side with this bold outfit! Your living room looks super cheery and happy. I hope you'll get an invitation to cool events so you can wear all your party-ready outfits! :D xx
