Visiting Pasar Seni, Kuala Lumpur

I never noticed how beautiful Pasar Seni is until last weekend.

I think it's the norm, isn't it? Locals just tend to pay less attention to local tourists' attraction. Like how most Parisians have never been to the top of Eiffel Tower, and just like how so many KL / Selangor people have never visited Menara Kuala Lumpur (guilty!).

Pasar Seni, also known as Central Market, is located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, near the Pasar Seni LRT station.

You can see Kompleks Dayabumi from the entrance of Pasar Seni.

With its modern Islamic design, I think it's one of the most interesting and prettiest buildings in Kuala Lumpur. Dayabumi at one point was the tallest building in Malaysiaeasy to forget that fact with Petronas Twin Towers so close in vicinity!

I have visited Pasar Seni, or its English name Central Market, a couple of times before as Shah used to work in that area. But when I went there armed with my camera last Saturday, I started to notice details I never did before, like how Central Market is full of the most colourful goodies and how gorgeous the tiles in some parts of the building are.

Tourists can definitely get a feel of Malaysia's culture and heritage at Central Market. If I were a tourist I'd be excited to grab some souvenirs for the loved ones back at home!

Shah and I had an early dinner at the Central Market Food Court. Although the food is a tad overpriced, I must say the food we ordered were delicious; I had rice with sambal catfish and lauk kuning nangka, while Shah enjoyed his mee rebus.

I'm definitely going back just for the nangka and for more photos! It was really fun experimenting with my new camera but I wish I could've gotten nicer photos. Maybe next time I'll do a little shopping too...

The name 'Kuala Lumpur' was apparently derived from the place where the Klang and Gombak rivers merge, which is situated at the far bridge in the photo below.

I've never visited that site of mergence so it's in my to-visit list now.

If you're thinking of visiting Kuala Lumpur, definitely pay a visit to Central Market!
