Affordable Spring Pieces in Trending Colours

With spring just around the bend, it’s pretty much the perfect time to start thinking about our future wardrobe additions and how to incorporate this year’s trending coloursaffordably, of course! InStyle has already covered Pantone's top ten spring 2016 colours so I have a great list to work with.

Fortunately, no one ever needs to break the bank to look stylish, and I have several examples of great spring staples to show you that I'm not kidding about not needing to break any kind of bank.

Well, piggy kinds excluded, I suppose...

Serenity

One of Pantone's top two colours of 2016, this sweet blue hue definitely lives up to its restful and peaceful moniker; Serenity is a light baby blue that really embodies springtime pastels and softness. Rather than going down the typical "dainty" path with this colour, I've incorporated the hue into our warm-weather wardrobe goals with a pair of trainersI mean, talk about the perfect balance, guys. The blue Copenhagen sneakers seen above from Topshop feature a cool all-over snakeskin embossment for added texture and interesting detail, and they would look amazing paired with casual skirts, jeans, and more this spring. Two words: Lust. WORTHY.

Lilac Gray

Sunglasses are a must-have for spring but rather than sticking to the less-exciting basics like black and brown, why not switch things up with a livelier colour? Lilac Gray is a soft, versatile hue that can be worn as a neutral, and it would look SO spring-ready paired with white or off-white. The above T.V. Eye lilac and gray gradient sunglasses from Crap Eyewear are anything but lousy. These vintage-style shades offer a super bold frame that’s perfectly offset by the soft lilac gray colour.

Peach Echo

Peach Echo is a welcome addition to the top ten colours for spring; it’s cheerful, sophisticated, and reminiscent of the fiery sunset that punctuates the end of a lovely spring day (which you know will make an appearance in about 90% of existing Instagram accounts, can't wait!). Dresses are an excellent warm-weather wardrobe staple, which is why I've chosen this beautiful pleated maxi dress suggested by Lyst in the most gorgeous, lustrous peach hue from Y.A.S. This piece adds just the right amount of fluidity and movement for spring!

Iced Coffee

Slouchy, low-rise trousers are in according to Harper’s Bazaar, and I'm always up for 'in', guys, so I've chosen a pair in one of the darker shades of Pantone's list, Iced Coffee. Not only does it sound yummy (and so welcomed after all the hot beverages of the colder days!) but it’s also that rare beautiful lighter brown that is perfect for pairing with neutrals as well as stronger colours for the impending spring season. The wide leg linen drawstring pants from Style & Co. would look great with heels, flats, and trainers, plus it can really go with a variety of tops, so this makes for a versatile, warm-weather bottom.

Rose Quartz

Unsurprisingly, the other colour in Pantone's top two for 2016 is the dusty pink Rose Quartz. This sophisticated hue is a great way to feminise an outfit without looking juvenileperfect for those who have always been a little scared of dipping their toe in the pink pool! Accessories are a great answer to this wearable shade of pink, so I've chosen the above tasselled saddle purse by Forever 21. I especially like the idea of wearing this with gray, white, and brown, but combining with other soft colours would work well, too. Whatever rocks your boat, girl!

I hope you've enjoyed my spring 2016 colour trend coverage. Even though it’s still a few weeks away, I hope with the help of these tips, you’ll have a nice jump-start on what to wear this coming warmer season. Remember to include your own interpretations for a more personalised overall look and pretty soon, you'll be on your way to acquiring an affordable (or I should say affordorable) and successful spring wardrobe!
