Alas, I didn't manage to photoshoot my Eid outfit on the first day of Syawal, but I do have some snaps of it on my Instagram, courtesy of my nephews and nieces! I wore this dainty lavender purple princessy dress that, truthfully, wasn't my first choice for Eid. but matched Shah's purple baju Melayu pretty perfectly.
PS: Short story long, my first choice for Eid outfit was a purple kaftan with green patterns on it, but when it arrived it looked all wrong on me so I had to return it! Shah, meanwhile, already purchased a purple baju Melayu to match that kaftan — and that is the story of how I ended up with the dainty purple dress, ain't life funny like that?
Every year we would celebrate Eid with both our families, and I usually reserve an outfit for each day of celebration. It's been a while since I bought outfits just to accommodate both days but this year felt like a good year to splurge a little.
For the celebration with my family back in my hometown, I chose this vibrant green maxi dress that has bright pink patterns on it, with a gathered waist. When I saw this dress online I second-guessed if the colour combo might be a tad too much for me, but I just had to see it in real-life (also, returns are allowed, thankfully).
The green is a lot but I'm liking the whole lot! In fact, I was inspired by that wholeee lotta green that I was adamant about matching my eye makeup to it.
PPS: I discovered afterwards that my mom was not a fan of the green eyeshadow, oop. Makes me wonder if no one else was feeling the vibe like I was!
The dress is unlike any other I've come across so I just had to hold on to it; it's now truly one of a kind in my collection of maxi dresses.
