In Retrospect: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Syracuse

I simply LOVE this foundation - so let's go ahead and break down the good and the bad of NARS Sheer Glow now:

The Good
  • Elegant, simple glass bottle
  • Gives very natural result
  • Syracuse is the perfect shade for me! (For reference, my skin tone is golden yellow NC43-44)
  • Evens skin out well
  • Sheer consistency but covers up some spots; a good concealer is still your best friend here
  • Semi-dewy finish
  • Actually stays semi-dewy and doesn't turn oily for a very long time (unusual for my oily / combination skin)
  • Long-lasting
  • Doesn't transfer
The Bad
  • Slightly pricey (but totally worth it in my opinion)
  • Bottle cover / cap, when screwed on tightly, doesn't align with glass bottle (might be just my bottle)
  • Doesn't automatically come with a pump, but at least the pump can be purchased separately
  • Everything above in The Bad doesn't matter because this is my most favourite foundation ever! Or, at least, most favourite to date; I'm still going to remain open-minded about other foundations. Recommendations, anyone?

This is how it looks like when I screw on the cover tightly. I'm wondering if anyone else's cover does the same thing, or is just mine? It's a little frustrating, I must say, because I constantly worry if I've twisted the cap tight enough to prevent any spilling.

Final verdict: I absolutely adore NARS Sheer Glow so much, I'm starting to think that I should never bother trying out another pharmacy/drugstore foundation ever again!
I bought NARS Sheer Glow in Paris in one of the many Sephora stores there for €41, which is about RM 164 when converted. I was very stingy with this foundation at first because when I bought it, NARS hadn't made its way to Malaysia. But lucky for us Malaysians, NARS store is now available in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur!

NARS Sheer Glow is priced at RM 165 here but add a pump and you can get it for RM 185—the availability of the pump should be a major bonus for many people.

Are you considering to get this foundation? If you are, I hope this review could help you in some ways!
If you already have this foundation, don't you just love it as much as I do?

    1. Hallo! Boleh saje tanya. Tu blush Sleek, namanya shade Pomegranate. I loveloveLOVE this blusher, tapi unfortunately takde dijual di Malaysia rasanya. Tak pernah pulak jumpa. Tapi i tau ada some people kat Malaysia jual Sleek online, so boleh lah cari mereka. Tak pun kirim kat siapa-siapa yang nak ke England, atau Europe.

    1. Lucky you! I haven't had the chance to go yet. I don't think i should yet either, because i'm sure my wallet will suffer the same fate as yours did, and i'm scareddd. I hope you read my reply and reply back, because i want to know what you bought!

I wish i could help you decide what shade to purchase but i'm not an expert AT ALL in foundation shades! I always find it hard to find my perfect shade, let alone other people's. I did research for MONTHS before deciding on Syracuse. By "research" i mean Googling what shade NC43-44 people wear, going to the different Sephora stores in Paris about 30 times just to test the different shades on my jawline (sometimes a few shades on different parts of my face, and towards the end two shades for each half of my face), and more Google time and more testing.

I'm sorry that i couldn't be more helpful, i really am =( . But may i suggest asking an equally makeup-obsessed friend to tag along with you to the store for you to test all the shades? And spend extra time with your laptop/iphone/ipad/smartphones and Google away!

  4. This was definitely helpful to me. I'm NC43 as well and was about to purchase Tahoe, which I'm now convinced would be too dark for me. I hope Syracuse works out!. Thanks beauty

    1. I actually went through the same thing; I was in this phase where almost all foundations I bought were a smidgen too dark for me. I was totally convinced at first that Tahoe was my shade. Thankfully my husband was standing next to me as I was swatching it, and he told me it'd be too dark for me. I went back home, did a lot of Googling and finally determined Syracuse was my "It" shade. And gladly, it was!

I hope Syracuse works out for you too, good luck!
