Concealing Spots + Express Makeup (Without Foundation!)

When a couple of my friends were complaining about their spots (as every women in the world do), I advised them to make use of concealer but they replied with, "I don't know how to use concealer!".

A much as I love makeup, I'm the first to admit that I'm not a makeup expert at all, so I'm constantly watching tips from makeup gurus on YouTube. I made it a point to learn Concealing 101 from them as even though my skin is relatively clear, I get these nasty spots every other week.

In this post I'm going to share the simplest and fastest way to conceal using only two productsthree, if you count my ring finer as the third without having to make up the entire face. Basically, this method would be most helpful to those who don't always bother with foundation and eyeshadow and whatnots, but would still like a fresh(er) face when going out the door anyway!

The two products are:
  • a good concealer that is a close enough match to your skin colour; I use MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW35
  • a cotton bud

Read on to find out my easy-peasy, on-the-go concealing method.

1. Dip cotton bud in concealer
Note: I need a cotton bud as I'm not a fan of sticking my finger into the concealer tub. If you're using a concealer straight from a tube, you won't even need a cotton bud; the liquid concealer and your clean finger are all you need!

2. Dab concealer on a spot

3. Pat concealer gently, concentrating around the edges by sheering them out.

Don't rub the concealer around as you would just end up thinning the concealer to nothingness.

Repeat steps 1-3 on the same spot until you're satisfied with the result. Now move on to the other annoying spots on your face.

Or any other dark patches you'd like to cover up.

And while I'm at it, I always cover up my undereye circles as well; a thin layer would suffice.

And I have a more even, cleaner-looking face!

It's a lot harder to cover up a bumpy spot than a flat one, but that'll do!

I've stepped out of the house with just concealer many times as I think it's perfectly fine, but to brighten up the face even more, I suggest powdering away any shine, adding a little lipstick and curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler:

Now we're good to go!
