Eid Mubarak

To my fellow Muslims in Malaysia and around the world,
Happy Eid!!!

It's actually Monday and it's already the fourth day of Eid, or Raya Aidilfitri as we call it here. Eid has always been such a joyous and pretty magical day for Malaysians because:
(1) it's a national holiday
(2) Raya food is OFF THE CHARTS

I was a little sad too because it was the end of Ramadhan, but I'm glad to have had a good one this year. It was the first time in my life where I felt genuinely blessed to be able to witness Ramadhan again.

When I was younger, my goal for Ramadhan was to go through the fasting month as fast as possible because as children, I felt like we had the most fun during Raya day. New traditional garb, latest additions to closet (my parents used to take us all shopping for new dresses and pants and tops and shoes!), mint Raya shoesand the best part was collecting Raya money from adults!

Raya is still an exciting time for me, of course, and the things I mentioned above still do happen for me, actually! Except for collecting money from adults, since I am one now myself (but I still get some money, yasss). But those things now feel less important than the time of Ramadhan, the holiest month in the Islam calendar, the time when we're all encouraged to sort of cleanse our souls and be generous in doing good deeds. and basically be the best human being we possibly could, and hoping that the goodness carries through after Ramadhan.

But Raya celebration will always be very special. I had hoped that this Raya would be all about visiting my relatives, catching up with old friends and sampling loadsa Raya food, and so far it's going pretty well. We fast for a whole month in Ramadhan and I don't know about other parts of the world but here in Malaysia, we pretty much celebrate Eid for the whole month of Syawal, which is great because there are still many people that I'd like to visit and celebrate Raya with!

I already miss Ramadhan, but here's to hoping I will get to meet the holy month of fasting again and experience it in a better way next year.

I hope you all are having a great day! Loads and LOADS of love from me. Sending virtual hugs and kisses to you, all the way from Malaysia!
