Peach Mesh Dress & Colourful Bohemian Clutch at Gyeongbokgung Palace

Did you know that Eid is celebrated for the whole month of Syawal after the month of Ramadhan? Well, in Malaysia, anyway! I can't speak for the other Muslims around the world (we ALL have very different cultures, after all) but I can tell you that Malaysians (even non-Muslims join in on the fun) definitely make it a one-month celebration — on weekends, that is, which was why I had  slew of Eid outfit photos last year!

I haven't made any visiting-rounds this year which means there's no other Eid outfit aside from my first day's caftan, so I'll just jump back into another outfit from my trip to Seoul in May.

Shah and I only had one week there with him working most of the days, resulting in a jam-packed schedule on the day before we were due to leave for home, including visiting one of the many palaces around Seoul. We had a hard time deciding which to go but we chose Gyeongbokgung Palace in the end, which is just beautiful. (I wish we could have visited the other palaces!)

We arrived at noon with the sun high up in the air, making photo-taking a challenging task but I'm so relieved my photos turn out fine.

It was a much hotter day than anticipated so thank God for the breeze! I wore an all-black outfit underneath my mesh dress and carried the prettiest colourful bohemian clutch. I wish I had a more delicate pair of shoes to go with my garb but since I pretty much always only carry comfortable sneakers whenever and wherever I travel, it was a choice between these black shiny sneakers or white Stan Smiths!

I've talked about my failing to dress fittingly to fit a certain ambiance before (like wearing Disney patch jeans to a garden called "Humble Administrator's" or a varsity jacket to a serene Japanese garden) but I think I did alright this time, with my mesh dress softening my almost all-black look — but what do you think?

    1. I think this look is GREAT! I think you should step outside your comfort zone and try some other colors beneath it because it's a very cool dress! You could start with faded jeans a light blue shirt and you hijab could be a pretty floral print of pastel colors!!????? I certainly get it if you don't feel like this is "you". Anyway I like this dress THAT MUCH!!
If you have a month of celebration to look forward to I think that's also really lovely. Malaysian culture sounds quite joyful! Love, Jude

      1. Hey Jude!
I think your suggestion is great. I almost wore a white shirt and faded jeans underneath this mesh dress a few weeks ago, but changed my mind at the last minute. I will definitely swap out the black shades with lighter ones the next time I shoot this dress for my blog!

There are "open houses" to look forward to in Malaysia all throughout the month of Syawal (the one that comes after Ramadhan); open houses are basically people getting together at someone's house (obviously the owner of the house would usually invite people over, but people are known to just show up sometimes), dress up in festive Eid outfits, and eat yummy food together! I think we have two more weekends of those, so yay!
