How To Make The Outfit Everyone Is Wearing Your Own | Glen Plaid Blazer & Burgundy Booties

Seriously, is it an exaggeration to say that anyone's who's into "fashunnn" seems to own a glen plaid blazer now?
Or a plaid anything, really?

I don't think there's anything wrong about jumping onto trends bandwagons, since, well, I'm doing it myself (obviously). But when an item is made popular by street-stylers and fashionistas who are always able to make most things look good, can you blame everyone else who wants a delicious piece of the action too?

I see a LOT of socks boots/ankle boots scattered around fashion blogs too — especially red boots, and as someone whose favourite colour is red I am all for 'em. The only reason I don't have red boots on in this post is because I haven't found a pair of red boots that I salivated over since the pair I wore when I studied in Christchurch, New Zealand, for two years straight. (RIP, Dotti red boots.)

But when I found it hard to walk away from these flat burgundy boots ("flat" being my favourite word, yo girl don't really do heels), I knew they were coming home with me.

Basically, in my (possibly unpopular) opinion, jumping on trends bandwagons = TOTALLY A-OK, peeps.

But how do you wear these ubiquitous trends like everyone else and still be able to look like you?
Wear them with your favourite items and voilà, call the look your own, baybeh.

    2. Something in your eyes, your black scarf, your focus on the plaid blazer your casual t-shirt beneath a business blazer...I can't decide! I'm. BUT you look very sophisticated here my dear. You emulate those last words of wisdom about attitude and owning it. Lookin good Liyana!! Love, Jude

      1. I don't think the word "sophisticated" is used a lot to describe my style but I'm SO happy to hear it from you! <3
Weirdly Shah is always the one telling me to "own" my outfits when I'm in doubt so I have to give him some of the credit too =)

    4. OMG girl, why so cantik? And also, when I look at your outfit and all of its amazing lil' deets and how you personalize urrrthang so that it oozes LIYANA, my heart just fell in love. 1. The "cantik" thing is all from the magic power of makeup babe! I feel like if you and I battle in a woke-up-like-dis thing, you'd win with your natural beauty. I have to admit, my makeup turned out extremely well on this day and it showed in these photos, which really pleased me as it was on my birthday!

I'm glad you think this look is personalised, because I have seen sooo many people in the same outfit - plaid blazer, jeans, boots, but I love the look so much I wanted to give it a go. I probably should mention that I spent a lot of time in air-conditioned places in this outfit, or else I'd faint in our hot country's temp!
