Electric Blue Pleated Culottes For Dubai Transit

I've been on the hunt for another pleated skirt ever since I acquired this metallic silver one from Mango, but...it should be acceptable for me to use that excuse to get pleated pants too, right?

This might sound odd but as a hijabi, I have a beef with pleated things I spot in high-street stores: why you gotta be midi length? It's just that I prefer to be knee-high-socks-less in my hot and humid country, that is all.

I have a real affinity for electric blue so regardless of the fact that these culottes are shorter than what I'd normally go for, I made an exception for them (and got to showcase my long black socks in all of their glory).

More of the blue shade in Affordorable: Electric blue baju kurung for Eid last year, electric blue scarf for a different Eid outfit last year, an electric blue top for 2015 Eid, an electric blue pleated (!) maxi dress that I should totally re-wear soon, right?

This was the outfit I wore on my 15-hour transit in Dubai on my way back from Italy. Before you gasp (even more) in horror at the words "15-hour transit", don't worry; it was totally planned on purpose to give Shah and I some time to explore Dubai, like we did the last time I followed him to Milan (when I wore my navy boxy blazer + two-toned frayed jeans outfit, and in fact I explained the same situation in that post, too).

Are you into haggling at all? We went to visit the Gold Souk first but there wasn't anything I haven't seen, being Asian myself. I live part-time in two cities and the fact that I go back and forth ridiculously much between the two of them means bringing home a bunch of spices from the Spice Souk seemed moot as I don't cook nowhere near as much as I used to.

Now, the Textile Souk was another story: I got to practice the art of haggling, something I have always disliked and am so not good at, but I did manage to bring back home a couple of satisfactory finds with me which I look forward to sharing with you guys in future posts.

Now, back on my search for a pleated skirt...

        1. Cobalt/electric blue is one of my favorites as well Liyana. These little culottes are great and I understand your desire for the maxi length too! Is this a new denim jacket? The black color blocked sections are very cool! I'm also noticing a very pretty new ring! Love, Jude

          1. I've worn the jacket once before on Affordorable, I forgot to link to it, but will do now! Thank you for reminding me, Judy =D

It's not just with anything pleated; I see cute things in stores with lengths that I wish were just a fewww inches longer. Some are too short to be saved by long socks! If these pants came in a different colour I'm not sure if I would still buy them, to be honest, but the electric blue really is vibrant and special.

I have an obsession with delicate rings and tend to wear a lot of them at once. It's not unusual to see me with a new ring every time people see me, hahaha.

        2. Hello beautiful, your outfit is fire! I really like the overall shape of this outfit to be honest even though midi lengths called you to put on some tall socks, hehehe. If the pants were a long palazzo, it would ooze a different vibe and you know I'm obsessed with these energetic blue culottes of yours. I hope you will find that perfect pleated skirt because I know you'll style it SO SO SO good like you always do. And girl you wear the best earrings - I know I told you a gazillion times. I am waiting for you to style your new bag that I secretly (oops, there goes my secret!) covet because LIPS. Hehehe :D xoxo

          1. You're absolutely right, if the pleated culottes were in fact pleated palazzos, I don't think it would look as casual and I wouldn't style it this way. So in a way it's a blessing, too, that they're shorter than I'd like...? Why not!

If you go shopping in a mall somewhere and see a fab maxi pleated skirt (like an actual MAXI one) in Zara / H&M / other high street stores, pleaseee let me know!

These earrings are one of my favourite pairs because they're simple and go with everything. And ahhh I can't wait to wear the lips clutch myself, but I have so little time to shoot an outfit these days because my photographer is getting busier with his work *insert crying emoji* but hopefully soon bebeh SOON.

        3. Hi, Liayana! I love you in blue, it just looks so good on you. I don't have culottes, but I'm a capri wearer during this time of year. I have them in all colors and fabrics, and I'm not ashamed of that. Now, first off, I love your glasses. They give me John Lennon feels. I'm also in love with that jacket. It's gorgeous! And as for haggling, I love a good sale and searching for the best deal for the items I want. I think there is nothing more fun to getting them items you wanted at a significant lower price. LOL! I get honestly, my mother taught me all I know.

          1. OMG every time I wear these shades I think I'm channeling John Lennon too!

It must be getting warmer where you live, so capri pants make a lot of sense. And easy breezy skirts and dresses too (like your lovely boho chic one!).

I love a good sale but I love the ones that have fixed prices hahaha. Honestly, if haggling doesn't make me anxious I'd probably enjoy trying to get as much discount as I could, but weirdly I just don't. The weird thing is my mom is really good at haggling and I've watched her doing it countless times, but I just can't seem to replicate her haggling energy!
