While it may be hot and humid all year round here in Malaysia — in other words, summer all day errrday (albeit with way more rainfall, that is) — we get inspired looking at the seasonal fashion around the globe too, and even adapt accordingly.
With the local weather here, it would be very appropriate for me to wear any summery trend at any time of the year, but does it mean I want to do so?
(Nah, not so much.)
But since it is summer now in the Northern part of our hemisphere — you know, the part that pretty much dictates and influences what trends are currently "in" and "out" from what I personally see on social media — seeing all summer-appropriate street style pics and Instagram photos hashtagged summervibes/summervibezzz really has piqued my interest in basket bags, linens, bright cheery colours and the likes.
Hence, the very summery and fun gingham print + espadrilles and wicker combo you see here.
A part of me is itching to get another straw basket bag ever since my sweet rainbow pom-pom one very sadly shed a couple of its pom poms, plus some of the straws are already sticking out of place.
If I intend to be smart about it though, without letting lust take over, I think it would be a much better idea to look into stronger, longer-lasting wicker bags instead, like this Kate Spade "camera" bag (first seen with pretty little tiers); I am happy to share that that little kitschy investment I made years ago is still in almost-perfect condition!

OMG, the bag! If you could just please do a blog post with all the cute bags you have, that would be superb and thanks. Hahaha, joking aside, let me just say I appreciate how diverse you get with the silhouette of your outfits. The drop hem style of this one and its slouchy yet cool vibe is so Korean. I don't know why I associate the shape with the fashion there, but you nailed it girl with a Malaysian sweet touch! Looking at you layering in the tropics is giving me ideas that I should maybe try but I am just sweating sitting here wearing the most minimal. Hahah! I look forward to see your other upcoming summer outfits because I know they're so going to be fun with a lot of details.
ReplyDeleteUgh trust me, if I weren't a hijabi I'd be living in sleeveless and short skirts and short pants (and cute summery dresses) too! But since I chose to wear tudung, I might as well have fun dressing it up!
DeleteYou're so right, Korean girls AND Japanese girls have this effortless cool style going on, I'm always envious of how they appear as if they put so little thought into their clothes but coming out looking so fashunnn. The best I can do is to be inspired by them!

DeleteI don't know if you remember it but you suggested I pair the peach mesh dress with a lighter colour in the last post I wore it, as I had worn the dress twice with black. I definitely love the less somber result!
