Honestly, is this waffle CUTE or what?
OK, a bit juvenile, sure; I'm not going to argue that Russell Taylors probably marketed this waffle maker to parents with young children.
But that little kid in me just really, really wanted this waffle maker, and, well, nothing wrong with me wanting to make that kid happy!
In all seriousness, I've been looking for a decent waffle maker for ages, but the choices in the local electric stores do not appeal to me. After living in Paris for almost a year in 2013, one of the things I brought back home was this gorgeous heavy waffle maker; I like waffles soft on the inside and super crunchy on the outside, and that waffle maker always turns out the perfect waffles.
My mom makes the best waffles. My siblings and I grew up eating heart-shaped waffles cooked in a waffle maker my mom brought back from our visit to Coventry when I was 11; the waffle maker lasted for many years until it stopped working one day.
I don't make as good waffles as my mom, so it made sense to give her my Paris waffle maker, and once in a while, I'd go to my parents' house for a waffles brunch.
And now I live hours away from my parents, so I need a good waffle maker for myself! Truth be told, this Russell Taylor waffle maker is nowhere near as good as my mom's heart-shaped Coventry waffle maker or my Paris' one (that one makes rectangular-shaped waffles, in case anyone is curious).
But, hey, I'm a Disney enthusiast and the waffles, while not too bad, are shaped like Mickey!
Plus I got it from a huge sale Russell Taylors held last year, so it was worth the price.
I don't use my mom's recipe because the portion is big, so I rely on this recipe instead: The Best Belgian Waffles Recipe.
Not as yummy as my mom's recipe, but still delicious and good enough — just like my Mickey waffle maker!
