The Floral 'Pajama' Shirt

I wonder why people love to hate on the whole floral-for-spring thing? Could it really be the result of Devil Wears Prada's iconic line? Sure, it isn't all that "groundbreaking" but isn't floral for spring as synonymous as pastels are for spring, or warm hues for autumn, or, dark purple-red lipsticks for winter?
Either way I'm just going to continue to dress free as a bird (and get away with wearing this shirt all-year round regardless of what season it is in other countries + sans judgment in Malaysia).
Honestly though, if anything, it seems like people like me who don't live in a four-season country are the ones living for these season signifiers, probably because that's the only way we get to feel each season.
I wish wish WISH this floral pajama shirt came with matching pants because if you don't know this, I happen to love looking like I "woke up like dis". But even on its own, the thin, cooling-to-the-skin comfy shirt made a great addition to my-country-is-hot-and-humid wardrobe.
On a separate note: I didn't have time to update my blog since my last post as I came back to my hometown from the South where I live part-time + went back to Shah's hometown which is all the way up in the North to spend time with his family + came back to my hometown by myself to vote in Malaysia's (very dramatic) 14th General Election (Shah voted in his hometown) where I nail-bitingly stayed up the whole night afterwards to hear the result.
If you haven't heard, Malaysia just made history by electing the world's oldest prime minister who will turn 93 later this year; Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad — who is our 7th Prime Minister AND was also our 4th (!!!) — is freakin NINETY TWO Y'ALL, and truly inspirational.
Our government has now been taken over by the opposition coalition as a result of the election — the first time in six decades where we had a change in the ruling party since we gained independence from the British Empire and officially formed Malaysia , so it's pretty much a huge deal. Big changes are taking place on this wee side of the world and we're all anxious + excited to see positive changes here, so wish us luck!

    1. Wow what a monumental time for your country! Very cool.
I also have a pyjama top that I love to wear as an every day top now and then - except mine is a crushed velvet type of thing and so definitely better suited for Canada's cold winter days ;) Hehe.

      1. It certainly is, but we're all monitoring the new government's actions closely now!

Crushed velvet sounds SUPER cool. For some reason I'm imagining your top to be red, I wonder why? And you're right, it's great to wear in cooler countries; I think I'd faint if I wear real velvet out in my hot and humid country!

    2. Congratulations on uour recent election. I was excited and impressed that you shared this step in Malaysia's political evolution in uou post.
This floral, pajama style top is so pretty! I love the dark background and it looks so cute with your jeans and pretty flats! I completely understand the desire to feel more connected to a season of the year through what you wear! This year had many of us frustrated with NOT being able to wear our spring clothing in the unseasonable cold!! You look lively my dear!! Love, Jude

      1. Usually I share lighthearted (and well to be honest relatively trivial) things here, but it's such a historical moment in our country, I cannot NOT share it. I'm glad you have such a positive reaction to my sharing it my dear Judy! =)

I love the dark background too! I kept taking my outfit photos in dingy alleyways so I'm trying to mix it up a bit. The dark background with its greens and floral complement this top particularly well, doesn't it?

I see a of people complaining about spring coming late this year, so even though I'm not experiencing it myself I DO now what you mean! I hope it's become a lot spring-ier where you live now though.

    3. Congratulations to Malaysia! I think for the people who loathe florals for spring it might be that they loathe the print for every other season? Or it is just the predictable print to approach as flowers bloom? I just adore this look on you as the dark floral theme is subdued by your pairing it with the casual ripped jeans. And of course, those flats! You wear them so prettily. I don't know if they'd translate on my big and wide foot. LOL. I love your makeup here by the way! You are the sweetest :) xoxo

      1. Malaysia is definitely feeling brand-new right now with all the changes, isn't it?

I think people think florals for spring in particular is a bit too predictable, but we don't have spring so...it shouldn't be applicable to us, right?

Ahhh I am sooo happy you like my makeup here, because it was truly minimal; concealer, lipstick, and I just applied clear brow gel to my brows! Sometimes I think it's a hassle to apply a full face makeup, so I just kind of wing it with these three products =D
