The Rainbow Box Bag I Coveted

Do you follow me on Instagram? If you do, perhaps you remember me getting down to business and asking my Instagram friends to hypothetically choose between a pink glittery lips-shaped bag and a rainbow box bag?

Although the lips bag received some love — thankfully so, as I had bought it before posing the question — most of the peeps who sweetly took the time to answer preferred the rainbow bag, which resulted in me zooming right back to the shop to get this rainbow confectionary.

As for my garb, this black knot caftan dress was perfect for a long day of open houses and a wedding; dark + flowy + super roomy make one very forgiving dress for the inevitable food bump that resulted from all the delish Eid food! I've had it for agesss, bought from H&M when I was in Tokyo years ago. For the sake of modesty, the short-sleeved open-front dress was worn layered on top of the very same black pleated Uniqlo dress I wore with my glittery boots.

I thought the all-black was the perfect canvas for this rainbow bag, which coincidentally goes pretty well with the bright pink mules I had worn on Eid. I don't usually go matchy-matchy when it comes to shoes + bag + hijab but it was absolutely necessary here, don't you think?

        1. Against the black knot caftan dress I love the power contrast of a brilliant color. The pink mules, hijab and rainbow bag make for a perfect vibrant juxtaposition and I think make all of the pieces more meaningful!
Perhaps that's the way we should look at the cultural and religious differences between people's of the world! Love, Jude

          1. Thank you for leaving such a sweet and thoughtful comment my dear friend xx It's true, so many differences in the cultures and religions in this world but they are also - SHOULD also be- able to exist harmoniously.

I don't usually contrast black with such a bright colour but it felt right doing so here, and I'm happy you think so too.

        2. I don't know why but when you do the matchy-matchy type of look, you look so bomb. I've not accessorized this way since forever and now, I wonder why not. I love the pop of magenta pink throughout your outfit. You're right about the food baby for when you're face-stuffing during Eid, better way a dress that is indeed forgiving. I like your rationale there even as you slayed it with effortless style. And in this getup, I sense a certain sassy aura coming from you. Or could it be because of the rainbow bag? Heee..You look stunning as always URGHHH! :D x

          1. Thank youuu, I'm glad you approve of the matchy-matchiness! I used to think it was a faux pas to match your shoes to your bag (because "fashion people" used to preach it) but nobody cares anymore now, ANYTHING GOES and that's what makes dressing up so fun now!

I already miss Eid and stuffing my face :_( but I miss the calmness of the fasting month even more to be honest so looking forward to Ramadhan and Eid next year!
