Red-Orange Kimono Robe & Ombre Drop Earrings

I had saved up some special pieces in my closet for special occasions and this red-orange kimono-inspired robe definitely deserved a place amongst them — and of course, my first-time visit to Jakarta was absolutely the "special occasion" that warranted the robe.

I'm naturally drawn to loose oversized silhouettes for their modesty but on the other hand, I'm attracted to loud, bold colours so to find something like this robe that ticks both boxes always feels like a huge win.

If I wasn't travelling in Jakarta, I'd have finished off the outfit with mules but most of my mules aren't exactly made for walking/exploring a city so I stuck with the better-equipped strappy ballet-shoes-inspired flats — which are no comfy sneakers, nope, but they're nice to look at and at least my feet won't hit the tar road every few minutes, guys. By the way, I saw these ombre earrings and knew it was meant-to-be — I mean, look at how matchy-matchy they are with the robe. Meant-to-be.

I had a great first day in Jakarta in this outfit; it was Shah's birthday and we had a nice dinner of nasi padang, an Indonesian cuisine speciality and had cake and drinks at a fancy rooftop place near our hotel (fancy mocktail for him, hot tea for me). Ahhh, good times, certainly!

      1. This kimono is really GORGEOUS! I lve the bright orange very Asian inspired print and how wonderful ig is with your complexion Liyana. Chosing a more subtle neutral colored hijab is genius styling as well.
I purchased 3 kimonos on Amazon early last spring. This style ticks a lot of boxes for me too!! Love, Jude

        1. I love this kimono so much, I thought it was such a gem when my hand rested on it on the rack in Zara! And kimonos have always been handsy for hijabis, in my opinion, so another plus when it's this interesting.

Ahhh I'm happy you like my choice of hijab, I think I need more subtle and neutral hued scarves for my hijabs too actually.

Oooh THREE kimonos, they must be wonderful!
