Green Polka Dot Drop Waist Dress + Rethinking This Whole Blogging Thing

In case my title is confusing: nope, not planning to quit blogging anytime soon.
If you've been visiting The Good Weekender for quite some time (thank you by the way! ❤❤❤) you might have noticed the posts have been embarrassingly sporadic lately.

Many of my favourite bloggers hit "slumps" like this from time to time — several seemed to never come out of one and quit blogging altogether too, sadly — so I know this is normal for anyone who owns a blog.

Also: I don't really have to blog, nor is it my duty to do so (especially considering I don't earn an income from blogging anymore) as this blog functions as my personal virtual journal and less of a space for a community to share ideas and participate in discussions. (I do however love having one-to-one conversations in the comment section!)

PS: I'm an introvert, which actually does translate to my online persona.

That being said, that doesn't mean I don't feel guilty about not blogging though!  But I also know that the bloggers who admit to not being disciplined at blogging always feel guilty too, so I'm not an exception.
I have to admit though: knowing that helps ease the guilt a little bit.

With numerous social media platforms, I understand that a blog is no longer the ideal creative outlet for many people. After all, publishing a blog post steals way more minutes out of your day compared to posting a photo with a short caption on Instagram.
Plus, Instagram is free.
Having your own URL is not.

But for me, this isn't just about blog vs Instagram, no. (I also haven't been updating my IG as often, oop.) This whole rethinking of the blogging thing stems from the theme I've been mentioning in my (sporadic) posts since Covid: I no longer get — or even seek out — opportunities to dress up. Style posts have always been the main drive of my blog; it was practically a sport for me to create an outfit that is as unique to me as possible every single time I went out pre-Covid, and all those outfits created great fun photo ops for me.

Now that I don't dress up interestingly as often, the math says I get fewer opportunities for photoshoots. Hence, fewer posts.
Honestly, I don't even remember when was the last time I took my heavy Sony camera out for a spin! My poor camera bag, just gathering dust in the store.

While I am interested in other categories other than Style (e.g. Beauty, Food, Decor etc), like I said, I've mainly shot my outfits for content here, which always felt more natural to me. But are those other categories "less natural" to my living? Of course not — I live for food more than clothes, let's put this out there!

Documenting those other things isn't really habitual for me, however.

So this is me thinking, or rather rethinking, that perhaps I should assess how best to move forward with The Good Weeekender, as I very much want to keep this moving.

I will keep most of those rethinking ideas to myself for now, but I do want to share with you these photos from March last year that were taken with my Sony at the beach near my house (this beach!). I'm all about maxi dresses post-Covid —  I own more dresses than I ever have in my life! — but this is the only drop waist dress I own. It's this sage-y green shade with foil polka dots and oh so ladylike, don't you think?

Thank you for reading this quite lengthy post, and again, thank you to my dear readers who have been checking out The Good Weekender (formerly Affordorable, also formerly Let's Not Kiss & Just Make Up) for all these years.
Sending loads of love to all of you!❤
