It's been a week since the end of Ramadhan when we jumped into the month of Syawal, which meant: Eid! Wishing my fellow Muslims around the world Eid Mubarak, and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri ❤!
(Better late than never, I say.)
Shah and I take turns to celebrate the two Eids (al-Fitr, the one right after the month of fasting and al-Adha that comes with Hajj season) each year with our respective family; last year's Eid al-Fitr was spent with my family right here in Petaling Jaya so for this year's festivities, we were off to the state of Kedah.
I chose this simple lace modern baju kurung to don on the morning of Eid; I just adore the jewel tones of the red and blue. I paired the set with a matching blue scarf and my denim floral mules. While I really wanted to have this basket bag dangling from my arm on Eid, it was too bulky to go into my already-stuffed luggage, plus I wasn't keen on shoving my precious delicate woven bag into the overhead compartment on the plane.
I simply couldn't choose a different handbag to go with the lace, so handbag-less it is, then!

This is lovely Liyana. I think your right about the special festive quality of jewel tones. They're vibrant and memorable! It's nice to wear something that's a little extraordinary when you're celebrating and seeing family and friends who are special to you.

One of the reasons I (plus every Muslim I personally know) look forward to Eid is the chance to wear that something special, for sure! Every time I wear a jewel-toned piece on this blog I get compliments, so I think I'm meant to wear it more...?
DeleteThat white caftan is certainly special, I have yet to see anything like it here in Malaysia, the fabric is truly unique. I did buy another pretty caftan while I was in Mecca and I can't wait to share it here soon <3
